Deacon Ministry – is responsible for ministering to the spiritual needs of our congregation.  They are on the front line with our Pastor when it comes to praying and ministering to our congregation.  They are responsible for assisting the Pastor with the growth of the  ministry, ushering in the Holy Spirit during devotional services,  and making sure that the  baptism pool is prepared. They are also responsible for making sure each member that desires communion receives it.  “In the same way, deacons must be well respected and have integrity.” 1 Tim 3:9

Deaconess Ministry – “In the same way, their wives must be respected and must not slander others. They must exercise self-control and be faithful in everything they do.” (1 Tim 3:11) Our Deaconess Ministry is responsible for the preparation of the communion table every first Sunday. They are also responsible for assisting the deacons in serving communion to our homebound members and assisting with baptism.  In addition, they are responsible for making sure the candidates for baptism are prepared.

Trustee Ministry –  is responsible for the financial welfare and general upkeep of the church. “Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do,” says the Lord of  Heaven’s Armies,  “I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great  you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test! (Malachi 3:10-11 NLT Bible)

Sunday School convenes every Sunday from 9:00A to 10:00A –  The Sunday School department is responsible for biblical teaching and training of young and old minds.  Our Sunday School department is also responsible for an annual Vacation Bible School which is ususally held during the 3rd week in the month of June, Monday – Friday, from 6:30P to 8:00P.  The Sunday School also sponsors several programs and regular trips for its participants, such as: Black History Program, visits to historical places in South Carolina, Parents/Grandparents’ Night Out, visits to  Mcleod’s Farm in McBee, South Carolina, the apple orchard in Hendersonville, North Carolina, and to CiCi’s Pizza in Columbia.

Pastor Aide Ministry supports the pastor and ministerial staff with various needs. They make sure there is enough juice and water on the pulpit each Sunday. They are also responsible for making sure the pastor has whatever is needed to minister to the congregation. “You see, we don’t go around preaching about ourselves. We preach that Jesus Christ is Lord, and we ourselves are your servants for Jesus’ sake.” (2 Cor 4:5)

Intercessory Prayer Ministry meets every Sunday in the multi-purpose room for approximately 10 minutes immediately following Sunday School.  We stand in the gap for the needs of our church, our members, our pastor, our community and our nation. “Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart.” (Col 4:2)

Nursery Ministry – Our children are very important to us. We believe that each child should be afforded the opportunity to learn about Christ.  The Nursery Ministry ministers to the bodies and minds of our little ones. The nursery is open every Sunday (except the first Sunday). “In the fear of the Lord there is strong confidence. And His children will have a place of refuge.” Proverb 14:26

Breakfast Ministry – As the Holy Spirit ministers to the spiritual body, the Breakfast Ministry ministers to the physical body. It is made up of volunteers from within the congregation. Breakfast is served every Sunday( except the 1st Sunday in each month) from 10:00 – 10:30 AM.

Jackson-Thompson Missionary Circle was reorganized in 2008 under the leadership of the late Sister Lillie B. Jackson. It was renamed in 2009 to recognize the late Sister Lillie B. Jackson and the late Mother Jessie H. Thompson for their unshakable faith in almighty God.  JTMC believes what it says in the gospel of St. Mark 16:15 “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.” We minister to the lost, the needy, the elderly and to the homebound in and around Fairfield and Richland counties regardless of race and/or religion.

Nursing Home Ministry is under the leadership of our pastor. Pastor Spann and associates conduct  services at Fairfield Manor and Pruitt Health Care (both located in Ridgeway, South Carolina) every Thursday, starting at 10:30A-12:30P.

Prison Ministry is under the leadership of our pastor, Rev. Henry Spann, Jr.  Pastor Spann believes that” God is no respecter of person”. We meet every 1st and 3rd Tuesday in each month at 7:00 pm at the Fairfield County Detention Center located  Winnsboro on Highway 321-bypass.  The gospel according to St. Luke 14:24 states, ‘for this my son was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’

Education and Scholarship Ministry awards a $250.00  scholarship to worthy members who are in good standing with the church. The following items are required: A  letter of acceptance, 2 letters of references, a copy of the most current transcript, and a written essay. Please note: applicants must be enrolled at  the accepted school.

Usher Board Ministry is a vital part of any church. The usher is not only a greeter, but is usually the first person that a visitor will encounter as he or she enters a church for the first time. “Greet all the brothers and sisters with Christian love.” (1 Thes 5:26)

Gospel Choir – “Praise the Lord! Sing to the Lord a new song. Sing his praises in the assembly of the faithful.” (Ps 149:1) The Gospel Choir ushers in the Holy Spirit through songs of praise honoring a living and merciful God. They can be heard every Sunday (except the fourth Sunday) during the morning worship service.

Junior Musical Choir is composed of the youths of the church coming together to render songs.  We are proud of the accomplishments of our youths and the fact that they do not mind praising God.

Men’s Choir – several men of the congregation have come together to sing praise to God. They usually sing every 4th Sunday of the month during morning service.   

Youth Ministry – provides leadership and direction to the youths of the church through music and songs of praise and worship to God the Father.

Praise Dance Ministry – worships God through creative dancing. “I give thanks to you, O Lord, with all my heart. I will sing praises before the gods. I bow down before your holy Temple as I worship.” (Ps 138:1-2(a)

Van Ministry – provides our member with transporation to and from church. Available upon request.

Movie Ministry meets on the last Wednesday of every quarter at 6:30PM in the church’s dining hall.    Christian movies are shown that minister to the family as a unit.  We believe that “the family that prays together, plays and stays together.”

New Members Ministry is design to introduce new members to Christ and to the by-laws of White Oak Baptist Church #1.

Video Ministry is responsible for recording Sunday morning worship services and special services held at our church.
